Ranaye Hakola is a lifelong Yamhill County resident and the Principle Broker/Owner of Westhills Realty. Ranaye at a young age showed her entrepreneurial spirit. Ranaye and her sister owned one of the most successful lemonade stands in McMinnville. They were successful because they were taught, from an early age, if you offer a great product, and treat customers with honesty and respect you will be successful. Ranaye has never forgotten this lesson and has carried that same attitude into her Real Estate business.
Ranaye married her soul mate Scott at a young age, and they have been married for over 30 years. When asked what it takes to make a marriage last that long Ranaye answers, "marry the right person and treat each other with honesty and respect". Ranaye also has that same approach with her Real Estate business.
Ranaye was licensed in 1990. In 1993, Ranaye and Scott opened RE/MAX Premier Associates in McMinnville. After 5 years with RE/MAX they sold out to a partner and started the Home Team Realtors. They appreciated the freedom of the non-franchise life. After a brief illness Ranaye went to work as a broker with Prudential Real Estate in McMinnville. In June of 2005 Ranaye decided that it was time to again leave the franchise life and she started Westhills Realty in McMinnville. Her original plan was to have a very small office. Well, that didn't last long. Westhills Realty's first office was in the historic Cozine House in Downtown McMinnville. It was only 300 square feet and worked well for about 6 months. All of a sudden, the agents started to call and Westhills Realty soon had 6 agents. It was time for more space. Ranaye leased 800 square feet in a new office space located on the corner of 3rd and Johnson in downtown McMinnville. But, that didn't last long. Within one year Ranaye had 16 agents and needed more space. Ranaye ended up leasing 2,350 square feet in a new office in one of the prime locations in McMinnville. One of the things Ranaye is most proud of, is that she didn't recruit most of her agents they asked if they could work at Westhills Realty.
In addition to being a successful Real Estate Broker, Ranaye is also the mother of two great children Valorie and Ryan. Valorie is an assistant property manager with Westhills Realty and Ryan has worked for the State of Oregon since 2005. Ryan has a wife, Cori, and together they have given Ranaye and Scott their 1st grandchild Peyton Leilani Hakola. Peyton was born in January 2009 and she has been a true joy for the entire family.
When Ranaye isn't selling Real Estate she enjoys being a grandma and traveling. One of the vacations Ranaye will always cherish was a Trans Atlantic Cruise to celebrate her 30th wedding anniversary. The cruise went up the west coast of Europe, stopping at 9 ports and ending in Copenhagen, Denmark. Ranaye and Scott spent 2 additional weeks touring the countries of their heritage. They flew to Finland and Germany and also visited England and Norway as stops on the cruise. Rome was Ranaye and Scott's last stop and after 5 days there it was time to head home. Cruising is Ranaye and Scott's favorite vacation type, mostly throughout the Caribbean. When you give Ranaye a call, ask her about her Antigua Zip Line adventure.
